Problems with the air conditioning and heating/cooling in the Seat Exeo Diesel, model year 2009: Possible defect in the solar sensor in the interior

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hello everyone! I have a small problem with my Seat Exeo Diesel, model year 2009. The air conditioning is only blowing warm air and the heating/cooling is not working as it should. I think it could be the solar sensor in the interior. Have any of you had a similar experience or know the problem? How did you get it solved in the workshop and what were your experiences? Any tips and experiences are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hi, this sounds familiar! I had a similar experience with my 2007 Seat Ibiza, and I had a similar problem with the air conditioning. I'm not an automotive mechatronics engineer, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. At my garage they said that a wiring harness was faulty. It was worth 155 euros to me to have it repaired. Everything has been running perfectly ever since. But to help you better, I need more information: Are there any other symptoms? Has the car given any fault indications? Is there any unusual whistling or hissing? Have you changed anything on the car recently? Please reply and hopefully I can help you further.

Thanks for your reply. So it doesn't make any unusual noises and I haven't changed anything recently. There are no error messages either. However, at the last service at 136899 km, the refrigerant was replaced. Maybe that has something to do with it? The cost doesn't matter to me for now, the main thing is that the air conditioning works again. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

Hi, it sounds like your car started having problems after the refrigerant change. It could be that the refrigerant wasn't topped up properly or there could be a leak somewhere in the system. The malfunction of the solar sensor in the interior seems rather unlikely here. In my case it was the wiring harness, but that doesn't mean it has to be the same for you. The best thing to do would be to go to the garage and have the cooling system checked completely. On my Seat Ibiza this diagnosis cost about 70 euros, but it was worth it. No problem, happy to help, let us know what comes up!

Thank you for the detailed answer. It could actually be the refrigerant. I'd better go to the garage and have everything checked. I'd rather pay 70 euros for the diagnosis than spend a summer without air conditioning! I'll get back to you as soon as I have any news. Your help is really worth its weight in gold, thank you!
