Problems with the air conditioning and heating in the 2017 Renault Captur petrol engine - Possible causes and solutions

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my Renault Captur petrol engine, year 2017. The air conditioning only blows warm air and the heating/cooling somehow doesn't work properly. I think it might be the ambient temperature sensor, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and could possibly give me some tips? How did you sort it out in the workshop? I'm looking forward to hearing your experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm not an expert on cars, but I do have a bit of experience. I had a similar problem with my Renault Clio, year 2015. It turned out that it was a cable or connector from the sensor that was defective. I had it fixed in the garage by a professional. It cost me about 95 euros. If you like, I can share my workshop experience with you and how I got it fixed there. However, to give you more accurate advice, could you perhaps add a few more details about your problem or your vehicle? Any information can help narrow down the problem.

Thank you very much for your answer. My Captur has now covered 78889 km and the last service was not long ago. I've already checked several things, such as the fuse and the thermostat, but so far I haven't found anything unusual. Yes, if you could tell me about your workshop experience, that would certainly be helpful. How did you explain the problem at the time and how long did the repair take? I look forward to your reply.

Hello, so with my Renault Clio it was like this: I simply drove to the garage and described the problem, just like you have done here. In my case, the air conditioning was also just blowing warm air, it was a hot summer day, so the problem was unbearable. The mechanic was quite helpful and checked the car immediately. It turned out to be a faulty cable/connection from the ambient temperature sensor, just as you suspected. They had to order the part, so the repair took about 3, maybe 4 days in total. But they provided me with a replacement vehicle in the meantime, which was very handy. As for the cost, I can say that it cost me about 95 euros, as I mentioned before. That includes the spare part (about 45 euros), the labor (about 50 euros) and the diagnosis (free of charge). It might be a bit more expensive for you though, as your model is newer than mine. I hope this helps you! It's best to have your car checked at a Renault garage, just to be on the safe side. Good luck with that!

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply! It's great to know that other people have had similar problems and have been able to solve them successfully. You have really helped me. Your information about the garage and the costs is very helpful. I will take my Renault to the garage tomorrow and hope that it is just a fault with a cable or the connection. I can afford a repair that costs around 100 euros. And in the event that it takes longer, a replacement car would of course be handy. Thanks again for your advice! I'll give you an update as soon as I know more. Have a good evening!
