Problems with the air conditioning and heating in the 2014 Citroen DS3 - looking for troubleshooting advice and experience

A/C System Not Engaging

Air conditioning blows warm air

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey guys, my 2014 Citroen DS3 with a gasoline engine is currently doing some strange things. The air conditioning only blows warm air, heating and cooling are not sufficient and the A/C system won't even start. I suspect that the A/C control valve may be faulty. Have any of you had similar problems and can give me some troubleshooting tips? Would love to hear more about how you have fixed this at your garage and what your experiences have been. Any help will be appreciated!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Citroen C3, but first of all, I'm not a car expert, just call me a talented amateur. At my garage, they did a leak test on the air conditioning system as it turned out to be leaking. They had to replace the whole refrigerant circuit and of course seal the leak. The whole thing cost me 495 euros. However, we need more vehicle information to be able to give you more specific details. In particular, it would be important to know if your DS3 has similar symptoms or if there are other problems that we are not considering. Do you know the exact type of refrigerant used in your air conditioning system? Does your vehicle have an automatic or manual air conditioning system? Any additional information will help us to help you better.

Thanks for your answer, that's already helped. I don't know exactly what kind of refrigerant is in my DS3, I'll have to look it up. But it is an automatic air conditioning system. My little rascal isn't causing any more problems at the moment, except that it doesn't want to heat and cool properly. As for the mileage, it's done 170,543 km so far and the last service was about 6 months ago. Hope this helps you to give me better tips. Greetings!

Hey, no problem! You're welcome! Hope I can be of more help. So, it almost sounds like the problem is with the refrigerant pump or the expansion valve rather than necessarily the control valve. If the control valve is faulty, then the A/C would be more likely to not work at all and not just pump warm air. But, as already mentioned, I'm not an expert. It would be best if you had the car checked by an air conditioning technician. You can find and repair a lot of things yourself, but the refrigerant circuits are rather complicated and require special tools and knowledge. Since you said it's been 6 months since the last service, it might be time for an inspection anyway. Because even if it's only a minor issue, it can lead to major problems in the long term. I hope this helps you and that your DS3 will soon be fully functional again! Have a safe journey!

Thanks again for the detailed answer. You may be right, sometimes you just have to call in a professional, especially when it comes to such special issues. I think I'll probably make an appointment at the workshop and have the whole thing checked. Who knows, maybe I'll have found the cause by then. If there are any more problems, I'll get back to you. Until then, take care and thanks again!

Hello, Has the correct amount of refrigerant been added? Are all the other sensors in the air conditioning system in order?
