Problems with the ABS system on the Peugeot Rifter - causes and experiences

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey guys, my Peugeot Rifter (petrol engine, year of manufacture 2022) has skidded a bit. Somehow the ABS system is acting up. I have a feeling that it could be due to the worn transmission fluid, but I'm not 100% sure. Have any of you had similar experiences? I would be extremely grateful for any troubleshooting tips. I would be particularly interested to hear how your garage solved the problem and what you experienced. Looking forward to your stories.

Hi, I have some experience with cars but wouldn't call myself a professional. I had a similar problem with my Peugeot 308 GT (year 2020). It wasn't exactly the same model, but close enough. The problem was also with the gearbox oil. It turned out to be worn out. When I noticed the symptoms, I immediately took it to my regular garage. They carried out a full diagnosis to be sure. In the end it was a matter of replacing the gearbox oil, which cost me 365 euros. Not exactly cheap, but it solved the problem. To give you more specific advice, it would be helpful if you could give more details about your vehicle. What gearbox do you have? How many kilometers have you driven so far? Have you had any recent maintenance work done? It's always best to consult a professional when you have problems like this. Hope this helps you!

Hi, thanks for your quick response. My Rifter has a manual transmission and a mileage of 54130 km. The last service was at 50000 km, so maybe it's time to check the transmission oil. Your story sounds pretty similar to my situation, I think I'll take it to the garage and see what the guys say. 365 euros is not a lot, but if it helps then it's worth it. Thanks again for the advice!

Hey, no problem, always welcome! Yeah, it really sounds like it's time to check the transmission fluid, especially if you haven't had any maintenance in a while. I would recommend that you address it as soon as possible to avoid further damage. You might get lucky and it might be less costly than in my case, depending on what your garage charges for it. And if it is indeed the gearbox oil, at least you can be reassured afterwards that the problem has been fixed. After all, safety comes first, so every penny spent on it is money well spent. Hope this helps you and good luck with your Rifter! Let us know what comes out of the workshop.

Many thanks for the excellent advice! I will definitely tackle this as soon as possible and make an appointment at the garage. Hopefully it's just the gearbox oil and it won't be too expensive. Safety is indeed the most important thing and I want to avoid further damage occurring. I'll definitely keep you posted and let you know what the guys at the garage find. Thanks again for the help, you've really helped me out!
