Jerking on acceleration

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2012 Renault Wind with a gasoline engine. The indicator light is on, the engine doesn't pull properly, runs rough, jerks when accelerating and when I'm at traffic lights, it often starts to stutter and stalls. It also vibrates when idling. I suspect that it could be a fault with the tank ventilation system / DMTL valve, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had symptoms like this and had the problem solved at the garage? What was your experience and what was the solution in the end? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, maybe I can help you. I had a similar problem with my Renault Wind built in 2010, so not much older than yours. I would say I have medium experience when it comes to car repairs. At my garage, they found that the engine control unit was faulty, which is very rare. The repair was quite expensive, costing me around 1000 euros. It therefore seems to me that your problem may also be related to this. To be able to help you better, could you please give me more details about your car? How many kilometers do you have on it? When was the last time you had an inspection?

Hi, thanks for your feedback. My Wind already has 83832 km on the clock and the last service was very recent. I really hope it's not the control unit, I'd hate to spend €1000. But I'll have it checked in the workshop. Thanks for the tip!

No problem! 83832 km is not that much for a car from 2012. Of course, there could also be other causes. In my case it was the control unit, but it could also be the tank ventilation system or DMTL valve. But to be sure, you have to check it in the workshop with a diagnostic device. If you're lucky, it could just be a minor issue like a clogged fuel filter or a faulty spark plug, which could also cause similar symptoms. This would of course be much cheaper to repair. It could also just be a software problem that could be fixed by updating the engine control unit. This possibility should not be ignored. But as I said, to really know for sure, you should have it checked in the workshop. Please keep us up to date and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing serious!
