Hi, thanks for your quick reply! My last service is at 35724 km. Mostly the problems happen when I'm on the highway. When overtaking, i.e. when I press harder on the gas, the black smoke comes out and the indicator light comes on. So it seems to occur under high load. So it could also be a problem with the turbocharger, right? Nevertheless, I will follow your advice and also have the glow plugs checked. Are you still driving your Safrane or have you sold it because of the problems? Best regards

Hey, don't stress, we're all here to help each other, right? About your problems: Yes, if the black smoke comes especially when accelerating, this can actually also indicate the turbocharger. A defective turbocharger can also affect the DPF regeneration, as it changes the correct air/fuel ratio - and this in turn can be the cause of the black smoke. But before you immediately suspect the turbocharger, have the glow plugs checked first. This is usually easier and cheaper to fix. Regarding your question: Yes, I still drive my Safrane. I mean, sure, there have been problems, but no car is perfect. If you carry out regular maintenance and react quickly when problems occur, you can avoid a lot of major problems. Let us know how you get on and whether the garage was able to find the fault. I am curious! Best regards

Hey, thanks for your helpful reply and the tip about the turbocharger! I'll have it looked at at the garage along with the glow plugs. It's good to hear that you're still driving your Safrane despite the problems. That gives me a bit of hope! I'll keep you posted on what the garage finds and what happens next. Thanks again and best wishes!

Hello, I had similar problems with a 2004 Renault Safrane Diesel. I am not a car professional, but I do have some experience with cars. In my car, the glow plug was really defective due to wear and tear and this led to the same symptoms as yours. At the workshop, they first carried out an inspection and then the defective parts had to be replaced. It cost me 560 euros, but it was necessary to fix the problem. I would suggest you take your car to the workshop and have the glow plugs checked. It might also be helpful if you provide more information about your vehicle. Can you describe in more detail what happens when the problems occur? Maybe then I can help even better. Regards
