Problems with Renault Scenic 2019: Black smoke, loss of power and problems starting the engine

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Shaking while idling

Loss of engine power

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Car won't start

Stalling while idling

Engine shuts off by itself

Hey guys, I currently have a problem with my 2019 Renault Scenic (gasoline). Strangely, I have black smoke when accelerating, the check engine light is on, the engine just stalls, loss of power, rough engine running, jerking when accelerating, it won't start, stalls when idling and shakes when stationary. A friend of mine said it could be due to the idle control. Have any of you had similar experiences and perhaps know what exactly is going on? I'm really desperate and would like to know how your workshop solved the problem. Thank you!

Hi, I had similar issues with my 2017 Renault Kadjar. My knowledge of cars is limited, I would say I have some experience. At first I didn't know what was causing my problems either. After I took the car to the garage, it turned out that the cable/plug on the idle control valve was faulty. It cost 155 euros to fix the problem. Without exact vehicle data, such as model and year of manufacture, I can't say for sure whether it's the same problem with your Scenic. But it would certainly be worth a try to have this checked in a workshop. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your quick reply and the tip! I'll ask a garage whether it could actually be the idle control valve. At my last inspection at 127605 km everything was still OK, so at least they didn't notice anything. Sometimes the trouble starts just when you think everything is fine... Well, I hope this helps me. Thank you very much!

Exactly, that's my experience. You think everything is fine and then the trouble starts. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the problem is fixed quickly and that it's nothing serious. A faulty plug on the idle control valve is annoying, but fortunately not that expensive. Don't forget to keep us posted on how it goes. Good luck, buddy!

Hello everyone I have a problem with my 2019 gasoline Scenic with 52,000km automatic transmission lately the car in gear tends to jerk creating a noise in the front end like when you walk with the wheel on the white anti drowsiness line also the RPM needle creates jerks like hiccups creating them in motion. Has this ever happened to any of you I'm afraid it's a problem with the gearbox and flywheel but that's crazy if that's the case since the car is practically new . thanks to all

It sounds like you might be experiencing transmission issues. However, before jumping to conclusions, it's worth checking a few simpler things first. Start by checking your transmission fluid level and condition. If it's low or dirty, it could cause the symptoms you're describing. If the fluid is fine, it might be worth having a mechanic inspect your vehicle, as the issue could be more serious, like a problem with the gearbox or flywheel as you mentioned. Please keep us updated on your progress.
