Problems with Renault Master Diesel 2006: Engine and oil warning lights come on, overheating and noises

Weird engine noise

Check engine light on

Overheating

Oil light on

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my Renault Master Diesel, built in 2006. The check engine light and the oil warning light come on, the car overheats and the engine makes strange noises. I suspect that my engine oil may be contaminated. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me a tip on the best way to fix it? I would be particularly interested to know how your garage solved the problem and what your experiences were. Thanks in advance!

Hi, funny because I had a very similar problem with my 2004 Renault Trafic Diesel. I would describe myself as someone with some experience of cars. My garage did a very good job, they found that the communication between the control units was sporadically faulty. I paid 955 euros for the repair at the time. But now everything is back to normal. Could you perhaps give me a few more details about your car? I could probably help you even better that way.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Master has pretty much 107898 km on the clock now and the last service was about 6 months ago. The problems have been kind of creeping up, but since last week it's been really bad. I'm driving as little as possible at the moment, but the next appointment at the garage has already been made. Hopefully it's nothing serious... Thanks for your advice!

No problem, you're welcome! Your Master already has a few kilometers under its belt. With my Trafic, the problems also occurred at around 100,000 km. With older diesel engines, the sensors and control units may start to cause problems. Your suspicion about the engine oil could also be correct. It could be that dirt particles have deposited, causing the oil pressure to drop. This could explain the warning lights. The overheating could also be caused by a faulty radiator or a leaking head gasket, which could also explain the strange engine noise. In any case, it's great that you already have an appointment at the garage! In any case, have the engine oil changed and ask the mechanics to check the control units and sensors. I hope it's nothing more serious. Keep us posted and good luck with the repair!

Hello, thank you for your good explanation and suggestions. The radiator actually used to be a problem for me. Of course, I hope it's not the head gasket... that would certainly be expensive. That also makes sense with the control units and sensors. I'm actually most concerned about the strange engine noise. I'll take your advice and have them at the garage have a look at all that. It's great to get such helpful advice here. I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I know more. Thanks again and have a great day!
