Hi, thanks for your reply. The mileage is 108895 and the last service was about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, the problems occur irregularly, there are really no specific conditions under which they occur. Sometimes it runs flawlessly and then other times everything stops working. I'm not sure if the engine is the same as yours, I'd have to check. However, I will take your assumption about the defective engine control unit to the workshop. 1000 euros sounds steep, but if it helps, I have no choice. Many thanks for your advice. I hope this can solve the problem. Anyone else here with similar experiences? Any help is welcome!

Hey, no problem! Your symptoms really sound like a fault in the engine control unit, so it's definitely a possibility you should address. Really look to see if our engine is similar. My Renault Kadjar had a similar problem at the time; irregular and with no discernible pattern. The cost was quite high, yes, but since replacing the ECU the problems have not recurred. So in the end it was the right decision to spend a little more money. If it was the alternator, as you suspected, it would probably be even more expensive. My garage once quoted me an approximate price of 1500 to 2000 euros if the alternator had to be replaced. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's "only" the control unit! Hopefully your problem will be solved quickly and without major costs. Let me know what comes out of it, will you? Good luck!

Hey, thanks again for your help. That really is quite a lot of money, but if it solves the problem, then it's probably worth it. I'll take it up with the engine control unit at the garage and see if it's the same engine as your Renault Kadjar. Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted as soon as I find out more. Thanks again for your advice and experience. Have a nice weekend!

Hi there, After driving for 45 minutes today, my car rental Renault Arkana had a battery issue. At least, I think so. It prompted, electronic failure (panne électronique), and promped me to stop the car immediately. After turning off and on the car it prompted: Batterie 12V faible démarrer. Then car wouldn't start anymore for over 20 minutes. Then I tried again after 20 minutes, all messages disappeared, and I was able to drive home, another 7 minutes. Is this a 12V batterie issue, or a random electronic glitch? Not sure if I want to take it to a dealership in my vacation, where I don't speak French and won't be able to explain... Any thoughts?

It does sound like a battery issue, especially if the car was able to start and run normally after sitting for a while. This could be due to a weak battery not being able to provide enough power, or a problem with the charging system not properly recharging the battery. I would recommend getting the battery and charging system checked at a local garage. If the battery is weak, it should be replaced. If the charging system is not working properly, further diagnosis will be needed.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Renault Kadjar, petrol, 2017 model year. Could you tell me if this is the same engine? That could be important. Although I have little experience in car mechanics, I think your problem is a faulty engine control unit. When I had this problem with my Kadjar, I went to my garage and they confirmed my suspicion: the engine control unit was broken and had to be replaced. I paid around 1000 euros for the whole repair. Please, can you give more information about the problem? How often does the problem occur? Does it always occur under the same conditions? This might help me and others to give you more specific advice. I hope this helps!
