Oil light on

Hi everyone, I currently have a problem with my Peugeot Traveller, diesel, built in 2017. I'm noticing strange symptoms: the check engine light and the oil light are on, the car is overheating and it's making strange noises. Could contamination of the engine oil be the culprit? Have any of you had any experience of this, particularly in relation to the repair at the garage? Would really appreciate some tips to help me understand what's going on! Thanks in advance!

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my Peugeot Expert, diesel, built in 2015. I have some experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. It sounded very similar - the engine and oil lights were also on and there were also strange noises. Suspecting that it could be contaminated engine oil, I went to the garage. There they discovered a sporadic faulty communication between the control units, which can also lead to overheating. The repair cost me 955 euros. For precise information about your case, however, we would need to clarify a few more details about your car. For example, what is the mileage and when was the last service carried out? What error codes does your on-board computer display? All of this could help us to better classify the problem.

Hey, thanks for your reply! My Traveller now has 34439 km on the clock and its last service was a few months ago. I haven't been able to read the fault codes yet, but I'll look into it and share the info here. As for your experience, it sounds like a serious issue, but at least now I have an idea what it could be! I'll see what the garage says about it and how much the repair would cost. Thanks again for your help!

No problem, I'm glad if I can help! Even if the mileage is still quite low, problems can really occur unexpectedly. Reading the fault codes should shed some light on the problem. Bear in mind that if it really is engine oil contamination, this can cause a lot of damage if left untreated. So my advice is to go to the garage as soon as possible. Stay strong, it might not be as bad as it sounds. Good luck!

And I'm grateful for the tip with the error codes, I'll tackle that immediately and then post the information here. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me! I'll keep at it and let you know what comes out. Stay safe and sound too!
