Hi, thanks for your reply! I haven't been to the garage yet and haven't had the thermostat replaced. But that's really interesting about the wiring harness, I hadn't even considered that. It looks like I really should go to the mechanic and have it checked out. By the way, my mileage is 37636 km, the last service was recently, but everything was still in order then. That's really strange... Are there any other suggestions as to what I should look out for when I visit the garage?

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! Yeah, it's easy to miss the wiring harness thing, but it happens more often than you think. When you go to the garage, you should also make sure they check the coolant level and the pump. I had a similar problem with my mileage of around 40,000 km and it turned out that my coolant pump was actually faulty. It cost me about 250 euros to replace. Another thing I can recommend to you is that they do engine diagnostics. It could be a sensor problem that is causing the check engine light to come on. In my case, it was actually a faulty mass air flow sensor that I had to replace for 95 euros. So it could be a combination of issues causing the symptoms you are experiencing. Keep us posted on what the garage says and good luck, hopefully it's nothing too serious!

Hello, thanks again for your helpful tips! These are really good pointers that I will definitely suggest to the garage. The engine diagnosis sounds sensible, and the coolant level and the pump also seem to be relevant points. This is the first time I've had problems like this with my car and I have to admit it's quite worrying. But now I feel a bit more prepared. Really, thank you so much! I will definitely let you know what comes of it. See you then and thanks again!

Hi, I had similar problems with my 2017 Renault Megane. I'm not a car professional, but I do have some experience. In my case, the cause was damage to the wiring harness and it cost me 170 euros at the garage to fix it. They had to replace some cables and then everything ran like clockwork again. To be able to help you more accurately, it would be good to know if you have already received any diagnostics from your garage. Have you already had the thermostat checked or replaced? Then we can find a precise solution to your problem together.
