Problems with overheating and air conditioning in the Audi A3 Diesel 2012: Possible causes and solutions

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Hello community, I have a strange problem with my 2012 Audi A3 diesel. The air conditioning system only blows warm air and the car overheats. I had the assumption that it could be due to an impairment of the electric fan. Have any of you had similar experiences? I would be interested to know how you got this solved in the workshop and what your experiences were. I would be grateful for any tips!

Hi, I had a very similar problem with my 2014 Audi A4 diesel. I am not a car mechanic, but I do have some experience with cars. I had to take my car to the garage as the electric fan was faulty. It turned out that the electric fan fuse was faulty. The repair cost me 56 euros and was then fixed. To be able to help you further, I would need a little more information about your car. Exactly which model variant do you drive and have any attempts been made to rectify the fault? I hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the tip! Mine is an Audi A3 2 TDI Sportback, and the first thing I actually checked was the fan, but everything was fine as far as I could see. I have just under 95876 km on it now and the last inspection was about 5 months ago. I'm going to the garage soon to have it checked. I'll then report what the cause was. Thanks again for the help!

Hi, no problem! It's great that you've already checked the electric fan yourself. When people have as many kilometers under their belt as you have, it can happen that the air conditioning blows warm air and the car overheats. Another point could be that your coolant is low or completely empty, or that there is a lack of coolant flow. I would also suggest that you have the condenser and expansion tank checked. Just for info, on my car it cost about 70 euros to change the coolant at the garage. I really hope this problem gets solved quickly - an overheated car is no fun, I know. Let me know if you hear anything new!

Hello, thank you very much for your reply and the detailed tips! The coolant could actually make sense, I suspect it hasn't been topped up since the last inspection. The condenser and expansion tank haven't been an issue for me yet, but I'll definitely have that checked too. And yes, an overheated car is really not pleasant, especially now in summer. Thanks again for the help, I'll report back as soon as I have news from the garage. Best regards!
