Problems with overheating and air conditioning in a 2015 Toyota Corolla - experience and workshop solutions wanted

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2015 Toyota Corolla, the gasoline one. It's getting too hot and the air conditioning won't kick on. I'm thinking that maybe the engine fan speed sensor is out of order, but that's just a guess. Have you ever had similar problems and what are your experiences with them? In particular, how did you get it fixed in the workshop? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Toyota Auris. I have pretty limited experience with cars, but I can tell you what happened at the garage. It turned out that the control unit was faulty. It was an expensive fix, cost me 1000 euros. It would be helpful if you could give a little more information about your vehicle to help you more accurately. What engine do you have? Sometimes details like that can make a big difference. Hope this helps!

Hello and thanks for the answer! My Corolla has 136829 km on the clock so far, and the last service was not too long ago. The engine is 1.8 liter. Hopefully this can help someone give me some solid advice. 1000 euros is quite a lot, hopefully there are other options. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem! Well, at that mileage, the fan speed sensor could actually be the problem. I once had a similar case with my Auris. It was a bit older at the time and had roughly the same engine. The fan simply stopped working properly and the car got hot. I can't tell you exactly how much it cost, I just remember that it was significantly less than 1000 euros. Maybe you're lucky and it's just the sensor and not the control unit. I would definitely get another opinion before spending so much money.

Hey, that's very helpful, thank you! It sounds like it might really be the speed sensor. I'll be sure to get that checked out before I shell out a lot of money. Your experience definitely gives me some hope. Thanks again for the help, it really means a lot to me!
