Thanks for your advice, I'll ask my garage about the particulate filter. My oldie already has a whopping 135176 km on the clock and I hardly ever drive on the highway, mostly city traffic. The last time the car was checked at the garage was not too long ago, but apparently the problem was not properly recognized. What do you think of these exhaust back pressure sensors, do you think it could also be due to them?

Cool thing that you're still slogging through the city with 135176 km! The low highway percentage could be the main reason why your DPF is constantly causing problems. At low speed and short trips, the engine simply doesn't have enough time and temperature to burn off the soot accumulated in the DPF. Regarding your idea about the exhaust back pressure sensor: Yes, a faulty sensor can definitely lead to DPF problems and the symptoms you are experiencing. But I would have the DPF checked first. If your sensor is reporting high back pressure, this could simply be a symptom and not the actual cause. But of course, every car is unique and the mechanics can sometimes surprise you. So, my tip: tell your mechanic about the sensor - it might help him with the diagnosis. Keep your fingers crossed that you get it solved soon!

Thank you very much for your detailed answer! It's good to know that city driving can have a negative effect on my DPF. I will take your advice and ask my garage to check the DPF and sensor. Hopefully this will help solve the problem and get my Vivaro back in shape. It's definitely interesting how complex the mechanics of a car can be and I really appreciate your help. So, thanks again and I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Opel Movano Diesel. I have some experience with cars, although I still consider myself a novice. What I did to clear this problem is to go to a trusted garage and have the DPF checked and cleaned. It turned out that the DPF was heavily loaded. The cleaning cost me about 1325.0 euros, but it definitely solved the problem. Could you perhaps share some more information about your vehicle? How many miles has it done and how often do you drive on the highway? That could help shed more light on the issue.
