Problems with Opel Vivaro 2012: Engine indicator light, irregular engine and high fuel consumption

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Poor fuel economy

Hello everyone! I have a problem with my 2012 Opel Vivaro with gasoline engine. There are several symptoms such as the check engine light that is constantly on, a rough engine, jerking when accelerating and high fuel consumption. I suspect that the intake manifold pressure sensor may be faulty. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and could give me some troubleshooting tips? I would like to know more about your experiences with the workshop and the solutions. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 Opel Vivaro, as far as my knowledge of cars goes, so I'm really not a professional. I think the problem might have something to do with the wiring harness of the intake manifold pressure sensor, like mine. In the end, my garage replaced the wiring harness and the problem was solved. The repair cost me 95.0 euros. So it's quite possible that this could also be the problem with yours. But just to be sure, can you give me a few more details about your car and the symptoms? Also, do you have any diagnostic codes? That would help me to help you more accurately. Good luck!

Greetings! Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I don't have any diagnostic codes to hand. The mileage on my Opel Vivaro is 91859 km and the last service was on time. So I think it's more of a wear and tear problem. I will definitely keep your tip regarding the intake manifold pressure sensor wiring harness in mind and share it with my garage. Best regards and thank you!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome. As you have serviced your car regularly, I would also assume that it's more of a wear problem. I also had similar symptoms with my mileage. It could really be the intake manifold pressure sensor problem, as you initially suspected. A malfunction in this area can actually lead to the problems you describe, as the intake manifold pressure sensor is essentially responsible for correct fuel injection. A malfunction can affect the fuel-air mixture and therefore the engine performance. In addition, depending on the exact cause, the wiring harness could be damaged. Since replacing the wiring harness solved the problem for me, I would definitely recommend that you have this checked by your garage. Please let me know what the garage says and what happens next. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can solve the problem soon! Stay tuned!

Thank you very much for your advice and your detailed reply. It was all very helpful. It makes sense to me about the intake manifold pressure sensor and the wiring harness. I'll take this up with the workshop. As soon as I have any news, I'll get back to you. I'm curious to see if we're on the right track. Thanks again and see you soon!
