Problems with Opel Vectra BJ 2006: Preheating light off, increased fuel consumption and faulty DPF regeneration
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Opel Vectra is experiencing several issues, including a persistent preheating light, black smoke from the exhaust, increased fuel consumption, and faulty DPF regeneration. These symptoms suggest a potential glow plug fault, which can affect starting and emissions. A similar case with an Opel Insignia was resolved by replacing the faulty glow plugs, leading to improved performance and reliability. It is recommended to take the vehicle to a garage for diagnostics and potential glow plug replacement.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. Well, I had the normal maintenance done at about 150,000 km, now it's already got 155,315 km on it. I don't drive very much and am more of an occasional driver. How did you solve the problem with the glow plug? Was the repair time-consuming?

Gosh, I'm sorry to hear you're having such problems. So with my Insignia, the guys at the garage did a diagnostic first to make sure that the problems were actually due to a faulty glow plug. After the diagnosis, it was pretty clear. The repair itself wasn't too complicated, but it did take them some time to replace the glow plugs. They also had to tinker with some other parts under the hood. But they were thorough and left everything clean afterwards. The 560.0 euros were mainly for the labor and the new glow plugs. But since then my Insignia has been running like clockwork again. No more problems with starting or DPF regeneration and the black smoke is also gone. So despite the cost, I thought it was worth it because my car is now reliable again. I would suggest you take your Vectra to a garage as soon as possible. Definitely sounds like a problem with the glow plugs, as with my Insignia. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks so much for being willing to help me out! I will take my car to my garage tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's just the glow plugs that need replacing. Your advice has really helped me! Maybe it's just a glow plug problem like in your Insignia and the solution is as simple as in your case. Keep your fingers crossed that it won't be too expensive.

Greetings to you, Have you been able to solve your problem? I have a similar problem but my garage thinks that my particulate filter is also closed because the glow plug has been defective for too long, is that what they told you? Thank you for your help. MfG Daniel

Hello. I have a 2003 Opel Vectra C 2.2 DTI. The problem is that it jumps the engine failure witness, then you notice throughout the car as a fairly sharp pull and already comes to low and does not accelerate more. I turn off the car, I restart it and everything is perfect... If I don't turn it off it can continue to run slowly and without accelerating.... I do not understand anything, no workshop knows what it can be.... Has anyone ever seen this?

It sounds like your Vectra might be experiencing an issue with the fuel system or possibly the turbocharger. A common cause for such symptoms is a faulty fuel pressure regulator or a problem with the turbo boost control. I recommend starting by checking for any error codes using a diagnostic tool, as this can provide more specific information about the issue. If you haven't already, ensure that the fuel filter is clean and not clogged. If the problem persists, it might be best to consult a mechanic who can perform a more thorough inspection. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Hi buddy, I know your fears well. I had the same problem with my 2008 Opel Insignia - very similar situation. Just so you know, I'm no expert, I have very little experience with cars. I took my Insignia to my garage, they were great. They found that the glow plug was indeed faulty due to wear and tear as you suspected. The repair cost me 560.0 euros, but since then everything has been running smoothly again. Could you please give me more information about your Vectra, maybe I can give you more specific advice? Has it been serviced regularly? How many kilometers have you already covered with it? That might help me to help you further.
