Hey, thanks for your advice! My Karl has already done 134535 km and the last oil change was at the last inspection about a year ago. As far as I know, nothing special was done to it apart from the usual stuff. I hope it's nothing serious...

Hi, thanks for the information! Well, with so many kilometers on the clock, it can happen that various parts eventually show signs of operational damage, especially when it comes to moving parts such as valves, cylinders or bearings. This could explain the metal abrasion you found in the oil. If the check engine light comes on, this is usually a sign that something is wrong with the engine, which is confirmed by the overheating and strange noises. There could actually be contamination in the engine oil, which is preventing the engine parts from lubricating, leading to overheating and wear. You could try changing the engine oil or checking to see if there is enough oil. Sometimes it can also help to read the car's fault memory. That might give you a clue as to what exactly is going on. But with your problem, I think the safer way is to have it checked at the garage. It looks like there could be underlying problems here. I hope this helps you a bit and you don't have to dig too deep into your pockets! Please keep us up to date. Good luck, buddy!

Many thanks for your detailed explanations and tips! I'll probably follow your advice and take the car to a garage, even though I actually wanted to avoid that... but safety first, of course. It's probably better to have the cause checked by professionals and not risk it getting worse. I'll see if that's true about the engine oil being contaminated and what exactly the problem is. Maybe it really is the moving parts. In any case, I'll keep you posted and get back to you as soon as I know more. Thanks again for your help!

Hello everyone! I have limited experience with cars, but I had a similar problem with my 2013 Opel Corsa. It was a real headache! I had to take it to the garage and it turns out there was a sporadic faulty communication between the ECUs. Quite expensive, it cost me 955.0 euros at the time. Could you perhaps give more details? How many kilometers has your Karl run and when was the last time you changed the oil? It might also be useful to know if you've recently had any work done to your car or replaced any parts. With more information I could help you better. Hopefully you'll get the problem under control soon!
