Problems with Opel Adam 2019: Black smoke, power loss and engine problems - Possible defective boost pressure sensor?

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Loud hissing on acceleration

Shaking while idling

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Hey guys, I've recently had a problem with my 2019 Opel Adam (petrol engine). The car emits black smoke when I accelerate, the check engine light is on, the power decreases and the engine runs rough. There is also a twitch when accelerating, a loud hiss and it stutters when idling. I suspect that the boost pressure sensor could be faulty. Have any of you had similar experiences and could give me tips on how best to isolate and rectify the problem? How satisfied were you with the garage that rectified the fault? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my 2017 Opel Karl. To be honest, I'm pretty new to this and only have a little experience with cars, but I tried my best. In the meantime, I also thought it was a faulty boost pressure sensor, but in the end, the garage diagnosed a fault in the waste gate valve. My garage was super helpful and did a great job. I paid 860.0 euros to solve the problem, it cost me a few bucks, but afterwards the car was like new again. To be able to help you better, it would be helpful if you could provide a little more information about your car. For example, which error codes are displayed and when exactly the problem occurred. Good luck with troubleshooting!

Hi, thanks for your reply. The error actually only occurred recently, after I had driven about 85034 km. I didn't read out any other error codes after the last major inspection. Everything ran smoothly until then. I will follow your advice and have the waste gate valve checked. Experience has shown that this could be a bit expensive, but it's important to me that the car is then fit again. After all, nobody wants their car to be in the workshop all the time. Thanks again and have a nice day!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome. I can totally understand your frustration. A broken car is really annoying and also expensive. I hope your problem is solved soon. It was the same for me, the fault only occurred after a certain number of kilometers. But after the waste gate valve was repaired, everything ran smoothly again. I think it's always better to go straight to a good and trustworthy workshop for things like this, even if it costs a bit more. Let us know how it goes. I'll keep my fingers crossed and wish you every success! Have a nice day too!

Hello, thank you very much for the encouraging words and the helpful tip. I've already arranged a workshop appointment and will reassess the situation afterwards, hopefully without any problems. Yes, you're absolutely right - sometimes you just have to spend a bit more to make sure everything is repaired properly. I'll report back later on how it went. Thanks again and take care!
