Problems with Mini Countryman Diesel 2016: Irregular gear changes, ABS warning light and strange noise

ABS warning light

Whining or grinding noises

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Hi everyone, I'm having a few problems with my 2016 Mini Countryman Diesel. The gears change irregularly, the ABS warning light comes on and I hear a strange whistling or grinding noise. I suspected that it could be due to oil wear in the transfer case. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me tips on how to fix this as quickly as possible in the workshop? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, it may well be that we had the same problem. I drive a 2014 Mini Cooper S, and had similar symptoms to what you are describing. I wouldn't call myself a car expert but I do have a bit of experience. At my garage, I was told that the gearbox was worn in the oil in the transfer case. The repair cost me 210 euros. Perhaps you have a similar situation? Is there any more detailed information about your vehicle or your problem that could help to better assess the situation? Let us know if there is any news!

Hello, thanks for the quick reply! Sounds very similar to my problem. Well, I drive quite regularly, have just under 55963 km on the odometer now. There were no abnormalities at the last service. Yes, I'll probably have to take the Mini to the garage. 210 euros actually sounds quite fair if that solves the problem. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again for the tip!

Hello again! Yes, I would definitely do that. Better take your Mini to the garage before the problem gets worse. I mean, I'm not a professional or anything, but with symptoms like the one on my car, it was probably the best thing I did. Yes, the 210 euros were well invested, my Mini is driving like the first day again! Keep your fingers crossed that it's the same for you. Keep us up to date! Driving a Mini should always be fun, shouldn't it?

Hi, thanks for the tip and the encouragement! I've already made an appointment at the garage. Before it gets worse, it's better to have it checked out, that's right. Hopefully my Mini will be running like new again afterwards. Yes, driving a Mini is always fun! I'll let you know as soon as I have any news. Thanks again for the good advice!
