Hey, thanks for the input! Sounds like the same drama you've been through. I already have an impressive 129378 km on the clock and the last service was a few months ago. Until now I thought that the Citan should be able to cope with it, but you can be wrong. Of course, it's a shame if the part is already giving up the ghost. Let's see what the garage says... Thanks again for the quick reply!

Hey, no problem, I'm glad if I can help! At your mileage, it really does look like a DPF problem. The Mercedes Citan is otherwise a robust vehicle, but the diesel particulate filter can be a weak point, similar to my Sprinter. The symptom with the black smoke and the loss of power sound very familiar to me. Your garage will probably have to take a close look at the DPF, but be prepared for an expensive bill... It certainly wasn't cheap on my Sprinter. But since the DPF was replaced, the car has been running perfectly. Hopefully you won't have any more problems after the repair! Let us know what the garage says and good luck with it!

Hey, thank you for your help! It really looks like the DPF is the likely culprit. On the one hand, I'm glad I know what the problem is, on the other hand, I'm not looking forward to the cost of the repair... But if the car runs well again afterwards, it's worth it of course. I'll definitely get back to you when I'm back from the garage. Thanks again for the valuable tips!

Hey, I had just such a problem with my 2018 Mercedes Sprinter Diesel. I only have some experience with cars, but I realized that something was wrong with the DPF. I went to my trusty garage, who then confirmed after some time that the DPF was internally defective. The repair cost a nasty 15 euros, but I haven't had any problems since. Your description seems to indicate that you have a similar problem. Can you provide some more information about your vehicle? That might help to better pinpoint the problem. Hope this helps you!
