Hi, thanks for your quick reply. Mine has done 321258 km so far, and no, I haven't had any other transmission problems. My last inspection was also without any problems. So would you recommend that I have the transmission control unit replaced? Or should I have something else checked first?

Hey, great that you replied so quickly. Given the high mileage, it could of course be that the transmission control unit simply needs to be replaced. The symptoms also fit the bill. But to be honest, before I would spend over 400 euros, I would first see if there might be a simpler (and cheaper) solution. It could also be that the clutch is over or the gearbox oil needs to be changed. Have you ever changed the gearbox oil? Sometimes things like this can cause problems. And yes, I would also recommend having the whole thing checked by a trustworthy workshop. The guys there usually have a good eye for it and can tell you exactly whether the transmission control unit is broken or whether it's something else. And as I said, if it really is the transmission control unit, then I would have it replaced. In my experience, this has definitely solved the problem. But that should really be the last option if everything else has been ruled out. I hope this helps you and you get your car under control soon!

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply and the valuable tips! I haven't actually changed the gearbox oil for a long time, so maybe it really is due. I'll take it up with the garage and hope that they can fix the problem. And of course, if all other possibilities have been ruled out, then the only thing left is the transmission control unit. It's good to hear that your problem has been solved. Then I'm confident that I'll be able to get to grips with it. Thanks again for your help!

I have the following problem with my Skoda Yeti dsg: sporadic error: DTC_05948 position sensor 3 for gear selector, implausible signal. P1768 Gear actuator 2, not controllable. if I delete this error it works again, but shifts through to 7th gear, if the error is there again it only goes up to 3rd gear. Selector lever circuit board, because when I didn't have the Carly yet, this factory key was in the display and I turned it off and shifted the selector lever back and forth and the key was suddenly gone, it has problems on inclines. It could be the selector lever, mechatronics or pressure accumulator because the gearbox shifts.

Hello, unfortunately I can't see from your answer exactly which parts have already been replaced?

Hello e46 from 2001. Box patina. Smokes and smells burnt. Sometimes hooks up but slips a bit under hard acceleration. Yellow light representing a notched wheel on the dashboard. Thank you.
The symptoms you're describing could be due to a number of issues, but a common cause is a worn or damaged transmission. The yellow light on your dashboard is likely a warning for a transmission issue. I would recommend checking your transmission fluid level and condition first. If it's low or burnt, it could be causing the slipping and the burnt smell. If the fluid is fine, then it's likely a more serious issue and you should have your car inspected by a professional mechanic as soon as possible. Please keep us updated on your progress.
First of all, I am somewhat familiar with such car problems myself. I had a similar problem with my BMW 1 Series Diesel, built in 2006, caused by a defective microswitch on the gearshift paddles. I then had to fork out 405 euros to have the whole thing fixed at my garage. They were very helpful right from the start and identified the problem quite quickly. They then fitted a new gearbox control unit and the car ran like clockwork again. Can you tell me how many kilometers your car has done and whether you have had any other problems with the transmission? Then I might be able to help you better.
