Problems with heating/cooling system and air conditioning in Opel Vivaro model year 2008 - looking for advice and experience

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hello everyone, I have noticed that my Opel Vivaro, built in 2008 with a gasoline engine, is not behaving as it normally should. Specifically, the heating/cooling system and the air conditioning system, which only emits warm air. I suspect that there may be a faulty signal from the ambient temperature sensor. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me a few tips on how to narrow it down and understand it better? I would be particularly interested to know how the workshop solved the problem for you and what your experiences were. I would be grateful for any tips. Greetings!

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my 2010 Opel Combo. I'm not a complete car expert, but I always manage somehow when it comes to repairs and maintenance. I didn't really understand it myself at first until I took it to my regular garage. Much to my annoyance, it was actually just a faulty sensor. The technician said that the problem was a cable or plug connection from the sensor. The repair wasn't particularly expensive, it cost me about 95 euros. It would be helpful if you could provide a little more information about your Vivaro, such as the exact engine type or the exact model year. Maybe I could help a little anyway. Greetings!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Vivaro runs on a 2.0 gasoline engine. The problem has existed since my last service about 2000 km ago (at 112231 km), immediately after a coolant change. It currently has 114231 km on the clock. I will follow your advice and ask my mechanic to check the cables and sensors. Hopefully it's nothing serious and can be fixed cheaply. Thanks again for your help! Greetings!

Hello, you're welcome! I'm also familiar with a 2.0 gasoline engine, so the problem could actually be with the sensor. It's strange that something like this happens immediately after a coolant change, but you never know. One other thing you could perhaps check is the air conditioning compressor. In my case, it was defective once and only emitted warm air as a result. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a bit more expensive. But I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's nothing major. Let me know what you find out. I hope you get the problem solved quickly! Greetings!

Hey, ohh, thanks for the helpful tip about the air conditioning compressor. I will definitely have that checked. I really hope it's nothing more serious and can be fixed quickly. As soon as my mechanic has found the exact fault, I'll let you know. Thanks again and have a nice day! Greetings!
