Problems with heating, cooling and fan in Opel Vectra model year 2003 - suspected electric auxiliary heater

Blower does not work properly

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hello everyone, I have a few problems with my Opel Vectra built in 2003 with a gas engine. The heating and cooling are not working properly and the fan is also acting up. I think it could be the electric auxiliary heater, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had similar experiences and can give me a few tips or suggested solutions? I would be particularly interested to know how the whole thing was solved in the workshop. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra, model year 2001. I noticed that the heater wasn't working properly and the fan too. I have limited experience with cars, but I had it checked at the garage anyway. It turned out that the electric auxiliary heater was defective. The repair cost me about 350.0 euros. Nonetheless, to give a more accurate answer, it would be helpful if you could share more details about your car and its symptoms. Have you noticed any warning lights on the dashboard? How is the behavior of the car when you turn on the heating or cooling? Any information could be helpful.

Hello and thanks for the answer. My Vectra now has 126236 km on the clock and its last service was about six months ago. I have not seen any warning lights on the dashboard so far. When I switch on the heating or cooling, practically nothing changes, no matter which setting I select. The car itself drives normally, but the temperature in the interior cannot be regulated properly. I'm definitely not the world champion in saving electricity. How exactly was the defect in your Astra rectified?

Hello again! The defective electric auxiliary heater in my Astra was completely replaced. The garage replaced it with a new OEM part and then tested whether the heating and cooling work properly again. Since you say that no warning lights come on and the car otherwise drives normally, it sounds to me like the auxiliary heater. If I were you, I would definitely take the car to the garage and have the auxiliary heater checked. It's just stupid when you freeze in winter and sweat in summer just because the temperature can't be regulated properly. But as I said, it was definitely the case for me and the garage managed to replace it quite well. Greetings!

Thanks for your advice! It really sucks to use the vehicle in extreme temperatures. Your experience has helped me a lot. I will take my Vectra to the garage as soon as possible and have the auxiliary heater checked. Hopefully this is it and I can solve the problem soon. Thanks again for your help and advice, have a great day!
