Problems with heating, cooling and defrosting mirrors on the 2014 Ford Galaxy: Possible causes and solutions

Mirror doesn't defrost

|

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hi guys, I've been having some issues with my 2014 Ford Galaxy lately and hope you can help me. The heating and cooling is poor and the mirrors no longer defrost properly. Could this be due to the water valve in the cooling circuit? Does anyone have any experience with this problem and how it was fixed in the workshop? Any help would be great! Thank you very much!

Hi, it sounds like you have a similar problem to the one I had with my 2012 Ford S-Max some time ago. I would describe myself as someone with little car knowledge, so I was really glad to have a good garage. On my car, it was actually the cable connection and the plug on the water valve that were faulty. My garage replaced these and charged me around 155 euros for the whole job. That helped and I haven't had any more problems since. Can you perhaps tell us more about your car? For example, the exact model name or whether you have already tried to fix the problem yourself? This information could help us to help you further.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Galaxy has now covered 123509 km and was last serviced six months ago. I haven't tampered with the water pump myself yet, I'm a bit cautious. Maybe I should take it to the garage and have the cable connection and plug checked. Do you have any tips on what to look out for when trying to find the faulty parts? Thank you in advance!

No problem, always happy to help! I like helping others, especially if they drive the same model! Yes, the number of kilometers is quite a lot, something can break. Well, a good first tip is to wear gloves when feeling the cable connection and the plug on the water valve, because they can sometimes have quite sharp edges. A flashlight is also super helpful to see what you're doing. However, if you can't find anything or you feel unsure, take it to the workshop. Otherwise, simply approach the valve carefully from behind with your hand and check whether it is damp. If so, that could be the problem. You know what they say: Safety first! So always safety first. I hope this helps you. Please let us know here in the forum how it went. Thank you very much and good luck!

Hello, thank you very much for the helpful tips! I'll give them a try. The gloves and flashlight are a great idea. And yes, you're absolutely right, safety always comes first. I hope I manage to find out something myself before I take it to the workshop. I'll definitely let you know here in the forum what I find out. Thanks again for your time and help, really great! Until then, take care!
