Hey, thanks for your advice! I haven't read the fault memory yet and haven't checked the transmission control unit. Good ideas! I last had my little one checked at 95532km. Everything was still in order then. Could you go into more detail about the wiring harness? What exactly was done in your workshop and why did it cost €180? Thank you in advance!

Of course, the cables in my wiring harness were partially frayed and there was a short circuit. This caused the malfunctions and the grinding noise. The workshop then removed the old wiring harness and installed a new one. The cost was mainly made up of the material and labor. It was a bit time consuming as all the connections had to be checked and re-routed. I hope this helps you! In any case, it's a good idea to read out the fault memory and check the transmission control unit. The workshop will then be better able to help you with the information. Good luck with that!

Hey, that's super helpful, thank you! I wouldn't have thought of it myself that these grinding noises could be caused by a short circuit in the wiring harness. I'll take it up with the garage and have the fault memory read out and the transmission control unit checked. Hopefully it's nothing more serious. I'll keep you up to date. Until then, thanks again and have a nice day!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 BMW Z3. I'm no expert, but I'm a bit of a car guy. At my garage, they found out that the wiring harness was faulty. That cost me 180 euros. Have you already read out the fault memory or checked the transmission control unit setting? That could give you more information. Let me know when you have more details so that I can help you better. Good luck!
