Hi, thank you very much for your answer. My Renault is a manual transmission car. The mileage is 148629km and the last service was only recently. So the transmission control unit could really be the cause. Well, it looks like the little one could do with a trip to the garage again. Repairs can be a real money pit, can't they? Thanks for the info anyway, very helpful! LG

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! Yes, the repairs can be quite expensive, no question. But if you tackle the matter relatively quickly, it could possibly prevent even bigger problems and costs. Since your Renault has already covered quite a few kilometers, you can't really avoid maintenance and repairs, can you? In my case, the cause was the transmission control unit, as I said, but yes, it could of course be something else. Have you already had the malfunctioning transmission oil temperature sensor checked? If not, that might not be a bad idea either. Then you've already ruled out one thing. Good luck with the repair and hopefully the damage will be limited! See you then!

Moin, you're absolutely right, that's life with a used car, isn't it? Repairs and maintenance are part of the game, unavoidable. I haven't had the sensor checked yet, but yes, that's actually a good idea. Then that can be crossed off the list. Thanks again for the helpful tips. I'll look into it and hopefully the problem will be solved without excessive costs. Keep your fingers crossed for me! See you later!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2011 Renault Clio. I'm certainly not a car mechanic (I'm of average experience), but I can trust my garage. My car had a faulty transmission control unit, which caused very similar symptoms to yours. It cost me 1000 euros to repair this part. But before I can say anything definitive, it would be good to know whether your car is manual or automatic and how many kilometers you have driven? Any detail could be useful to help you better. Good luck with that!
