Problems with gear shifting, ABS and unusual noises in Renault Espace 2007 - looking for solutions and experiences

Whining or grinding noises

Hello folks! My 2007 Renault Espace with diesel engine is experiencing some strange problems. Firstly, the gear slips a bit and the ABS light is constantly on. I also hear strange noises, such as squeaking or grinding noises. Could this perhaps be oil wear in the transfer case? Does anyone have any experience of this and can give any tips on how to solve the problem? I would be particularly interested to know how your garage solved this problem. Your experience could really help me.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2005 Renault Megane. I have a bit of experience with cars, but I'm not a professional. At that time it was also the gearbox, the oil in the transfer case was worn out. The solution was quite simple, it cost me €210. At my garage, they drained the old oil and then filled in new oil. Could you perhaps share some more details about your car? How many kilometers does it have on it? That could help me to advise you further!

Good to hear that you were able to solve the problem with your car. Changing the gearbox oil sounds like a good solution. My Espace now has a proud 109996 km on the clock and the last service was at around 105000 km. Do you think it would be a good idea to ask about the oil change at my next service and possibly have it done?

With your mileage, I would definitely say that it is worth changing the gearbox oil. Especially if you notice that the gears are slipping and strange noises are coming from the gearbox. Talk to them about it at your next service and tell them what you suspect. It really worked wonders for my Megane, maybe it's the same for you! Keep us up to date!

Hey, thanks for the advice! I'll definitely bring this up at my next service and see if changing the oil is a solution to my problem. It's good to know that it helped with your Megane. I'll definitely keep you all posted. Have a great weekend everyone!
