Hey, thanks for your quick reply. My Expedition has an engine size of 3.5l V6 and I mostly drive in the city. Well, I already have 135867 km on the clock and the last service was almost 3 months ago. I already realize that I should probably visit the garage. 1550.0€ sounds like a lot, but I'm hoping that it might just be a minor issue. I'll see how it turns out before I make any decisions. Thanks for your advice!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help. With your mileage and driving style, it's quite possible that your diesel particulate filter is slowly giving up the ghost, especially if you often drive in city traffic. Short distances and stop-and-go driving can lead to insufficient regeneration of the DPF. However, the workshop can try to save the filter by carrying out a forced regeneration before it needs to be replaced. This is usually cheaper, but not always possible. Overall, it is best to have this looked at by a professional. But for heaven's sake, don't expect it to be a minor issue! Unfortunately, vehicle problems are rarely cheap to solve. Keep us posted on what happens! Greetings.

Hi, thanks for your advice, you're definitely right, professionals should have a look at it. The city traffic and short distances must have really affected the particulate filter. I didn't know that forced regeneration could help, that's definitely good information. I guess it's time to visit the garage and hopefully they'll hit on something they can salvage before they have to do an expensive replacement. It's a bitter pill to swallow indeed, but probably can't be helped. I will definitely keep you posted here. Thanks again!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 Ford Explorer Diesel. I'm not a car expert, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. My diesel particulate filter was defective, which caused similar symptoms. They replaced the filter at the garage, but it cost me €1550.0. Have your car checked first before you start changing any parts. Could you give me some more information about your car so I can give you more details and help you further? Engine size, driving style, city/country driving etc?
