Problems with flickering lights and low battery in the Citroen EMehari 2020 - Possible defect in the battery temperature sensor

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2020 Citroen EMehari with electric motor. The lights sometimes flicker or dim and the battery seems quite weak when starting. I suspect that the vehicle battery temperature sensor is acting up, but I'm not sure. Have you had any experience with a similar problem and can you give me some troubleshooting tips? Would like to know how your garage solved the problem. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2018 Citroen C-Zero some time ago. I'm not a car expert, but I do have some experience. My engine control unit was defective. I had it repaired in the workshop and had to fork out 1000 euros for it. Very annoying. To give you more tips, I would need more information about your problem - what error codes were displayed? How does the car behave when driving? The more information I have, the better I can help you.

Hello, thanks for your answer! I haven't received an error code yet. Everything behaves normally when driving, only the lights dim and the battery seems weak when starting. I last serviced it at 43754 kilometers and the problem has occurred since then. Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep the engine control unit in mind.

Hey, thanks for the additional information. The engine control unit was just my personal experience, it doesn't necessarily have to be the case for you. The symptoms could also indicate problems with the alternator, especially because the light flickers and the battery seems weak. In your case, it could also be the temperature sensor of the vehicle battery, as you suspected. If you don't have any fault codes, I would personally check the simple things first. What about the battery connections? Sometimes corrosion on them causes problems. You could also check the charging current of the alternator. It's best to have your car checked at a garage and tell them about your symptoms. They usually have a pretty good feel for it and can tell you exactly what is broken and how much it will cost. That way you can cover all eventualities. Good luck, hopefully it's nothing serious and can be fixed quickly!

Hi, yes, that all makes sense. Maybe I should start checking the battery connections and alternator charging current. And you're right, getting a professional opinion is probably the best way to go. Thanks for your help and advice, I also hope it's nothing serious and can be fixed easily. But thanks again for your time and advice, I really appreciate it.
