Problems with fan and outside temperature sensor in Peugeot 3008 - experience and suggested solutions wanted

Blower does not work properly

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey guys, my Peugeot 3008 (diesel, built in 2010) is experiencing strange problems. The fan is spinning, it doesn't cool or heat properly and a warning light is always flashing in the speedometer. I suspect that the outside temperature sensor is not working properly. Have any of you ever experienced something like this and can give me tips on how to isolate the problem? How did you get it fixed at the garage and what were your experiences? I'm looking forward to your answers!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Peugeot 5008 (diesel, year of manufacture 2008). However, I'm not a car professional myself, I just have a bit of experience with car problems. My fan wasn't working properly either and a warning light was flashing on the dashboard. In my case, it was the cable or plug connection from the sensor that was faulty. I then drove to my garage and had it repaired. It cost me about 155 euros. Maybe that's the case for you too? Can you be more specific about how the fault manifests itself in your case? With a little more information, you might be able to narrow down the fault and then the mechanic at your garage will know better where to look!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! In my case, the fan runs normally from time to time, but then suddenly stutters again and no longer regulates the temperature properly. And then there's that darn warning light that keeps flashing. I last had my car serviced at a mileage of 140160 km and everything was still OK. But maybe the mechanic missed something? I'm not a professional either, so sorry if my description is a bit confusing. Your tip about the cable or plug connection sounds sensible anyway, I'll see if I can find anything before I go back to the garage. 155 euros isn't that much, but a saving is a saving, isn't it?

Hello again! Yes, the problem does sound very similar. I also had the strange stuttering of the fan and the inconsistent temperature control. I was diagnosed with a burnt out resistor in the blower motor. The mechanic had overlooked it during an inspection because it doesn't happen that often. Regarding your warning light issue: is it a specific warning light or is it constantly changing? Sometimes it can also be a fault in the on-board computer, especially in older models. If you are unsure, I would recommend having it checked at the garage. It's always better to be safe than to run the risk of overlooking something. Of course, 155 euros sounds a lot at first, but it can cost you more in the long run if a faulty connection or an overlooked fault causes more damage to the car. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks again for the help! Yes, even if it hurts, 155 euros is still better than a bigger problem that ends up being much more expensive. The warning light that's always flashing is the one for the temperature, so it could well be something to do with the sensor or the connection. I think I'll just go back to the garage and have it checked. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Thanks anyway for the tip about the resistor in the blower motor, I'll ask the mechanic about it. I'll get back to you when I know more!
