Problems with fan and heating/cooling on Seat Cordoba 2004 - suspected defective solar sensor

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Blower does not work properly

Hi everyone, I need your help. I have problems with my 2004 Seat Cordoba (gasoline engine). The fan is spinning and the car is not heating/cooling properly. There is also a warning light in the speedometer. I suspect that the solar sensor may be defective. Have any of you ever had similar problems and can give me a few tips on what I should do? How did the garages solve this for you? Your experience would really help me. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2002 Seat Ibiza. I'm not exactly a car specialist, but I have a bit of experience and took my car to the garage myself. On mine it wasn't the solar sensor, but a faulty plug. They repaired it at the garage and it cost me 225 euros. Without knowing exactly which engine is in your Cordoba and what the rest of the electrics are like, I can only speculate. Perhaps you could say a bit more about the condition of your car? Hope that helps you.

Hey, thanks for your reply! My Cordoba already has quite a bit of mileage on it, and has covered 213946 km so far without any major problems. The last service was about 6 months ago. However, apart from the inspection and the oil change, I haven't had anything major done. Your tip about the plug sounds interesting, I'll have it checked at the garage. Does anyone else have any ideas?

No problem, gladly! Hm, with the kilometers and the regular maintenance, parts could of course still give up the ghost. If it's not the solar sensor, it could also be that the fan motor itself has gone. This might be another option to check. The warning light is always one of those things. In my case, it was once a loose cable from the brake light, which always caused the warning light to come on. But of course it could be completely different in your case. It's best to have it read out in the fault memory. Keep your fingers crossed that it's not a major problem and can be fixed cheaply!

Thanks, those are really good tips! I hadn't even thought about having the fault memory read out. I will definitely tackle that. And the fan motor thing also sounds plausible. Hopefully it's nothing too expensive. Thanks for your help, I'll let you know how it turns out! Give me a big hug.
