Problems with electrics and navigation system in the BMW 7 Series petrol 2008: Experiences and solutions in dealing with error messages and MOST bus

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Navigationssystem is not working

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2008 BMW 7 series petrol car at the moment. I'm getting annoying error messages like general electrical faults and the sat nav is on strike. The warning light in the speedometer is also on, which is really starting to annoy me! I have the feeling that the MOST bus is not working properly. Have any of you ever had problems like this and how did you get it fixed at the garage? What experiences did you have? I'd be grateful for any tips or an exchange of experiences. Greetings!

Hi. Not quite the same car, but I had something similar with my 2006 BMW 5 series. I'm not a professional, but have just enough experience to take care of a few things. I had similar error messages and ultimately the cause was a blown fuse in the central gateway module. The guys at my garage found it and repaired it. It cost me 65 euros. Maybe it's similar with your 7 Series? Can you give a few more details about the error messages? The exact symptoms or codes might help to identify the problem more precisely. Hope that helps a little. Greetings back!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Well, that sounds pretty close to what I'm experiencing. Ha, ha, I have one code: "MOST bus communication disturbed". That's what worries me. My BMW has now run 102478 km and I recently had an engine oil change too.... It's frustrating! Tell me, how long did the repair actually take at your garage? Greetings!

Hi again! Ah, that sounds like a real mystery, ha! With the code "MOST bus communication disturbed" I would have thought the same as you, that the bus is somehow faulty. When I had the problem with my 5 at the time, it took the people at the garage about half a day to fix it. But I'm sure it also depends on how quickly they get the spare part and how full the garage is at the time. So, I'd say just reckon on a day to be on the safe side. The engine oil change could just be a coincidence, but it's still good that you mentioned it. Who knows, maybe there's a connection? Have you also checked that all the fuses are OK? Maybe the worm is in there somewhere, ha! And if in doubt, just take it to the workshop... It's always better to let the professionals do it before you break anything else yourself... ;-) Greetings back!

Hi, thanks for the feedback and your advice again. So half a day... well, I can prepare myself for that. Hopefully it can all be resolved relatively quickly and without any major problems. I haven't checked all the fuses yet, I'll probably do that first thing in the morning. Ha, I hope it's just a fuse that shorted out or something. The engine oil change... yes, could be a coincidence. But better safe than sorry, ha! Thanks again for your support here. I'll take the BMW to the garage if I can't find the fault. Better this way instead of making things worse in the end...! Have a nice evening and thanks again! Greetings back!

I recently scanned my mini f60 countryman and tried to do some tweaks etc . You used to be able to select an option to see what gear you were in on the auto gearbox rather than just d for drive , I’m sure I updated a f54 clubman before please advise if this facility is still there in the app

It sounds like you're trying to enable the gear display in your Mini F60 Countryman. This feature might be available depending on the software version of your car's computer system. However, it's important to note that tweaking your car's computer system can potentially cause other issues if not done correctly. I would recommend checking with a professional or the manufacturer's guidance before proceeding. If you've already tried this and it's not working, it might be worth having a mechanic or a dealership take a look at it. Do you have any updates or further questions?
