Problems with electric windows on BMW 2 Series Diesel 2017 - experience and solutions wanted

Power windows malfunction

Hello everyone! I have a problem with my 2017 BMW 2 Series diesel. The electric windows are acting up. I'm wondering whether a malfunction of the power windows could be the culprit. Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me some troubleshooting tips? How did your garage solve the problem and what was your experience? I would be grateful for any suggestions!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2015 BMW 3 Series diesel. I would describe myself as someone with little car knowledge. The electric windows were also acting up for me. I finally took it to the garage because I didn't know what to do. It turned out that the control unit for the power windows was faulty. The repair cost me 355 euros. I hope that helps you. Would you perhaps have more information about the type of car or the specific model variant so that I can go into your problem in more detail?

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My mileage is 60590 km and my last service wasn't too long ago. Your experience sounds really annoying, but it's good to know that I'm probably not the only one with this problem. If it really is the control unit, I'll probably have to go to the workshop too. But 355 euros is quite a lot... Well, we'll see. Thanks for your help anyway! But does anyone else have any tips or experience they could share with me?

Hey, no problem, gladly! Your model is not too different from mine, so the fault is probably similar. However, depending on the severity of the fault and the degree of wear on the components, it is sometimes possible that only part of the system needs to be replaced, which would of course be cheaper. But without a precise diagnosis, it is of course difficult to say. Perhaps people from a specialized BMW forum or your authorized workshop could tell you more. As I am not a specialist either and can only share my personal experience, I would recommend that you make an appointment for an inspection as soon as possible. It's better to be careful and have it checked right away than to get an even bigger bill later. Keep your fingers crossed that it's nothing major!

Hey, thanks for the advice. You're right, I'd better get it checked soon before it gets any worse. Your experience was really helpful. I think I'll have a look at a few BMW forums and contact my authorized BMW dealer. Who knows, maybe I'll find other solutions there or at least a way to save costs. Thanks again for your help! If I find a solution, I'll share my experiences here. Until then, drive safely!

Hello, In my case, it was simply the servomotor of the window regulator in my 1 Series from 2009 that was defective. I then replaced the motor myself, which was relatively easy once I had removed the door trim.
