Problems with doors, key and warning light on a Zoe (2017, hybrid) - possible connection with flat battery in ignition key

Key fob issues

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Locking/Unlocking issue

Hello everyone, the doors on my Zoe (2017, hybrid) have been acting up recently, sometimes closing and sometimes not. There are also problems with the key and an illuminated warning light in the speedometer. Could this be due to a flat battery in the ignition key? Have you had similar experiences and how did you solve the problem in the workshop? I would be delighted to hear any tips and experiences!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Clio (year 2015, also a Renault model). I'm no expert, but I've been dealing with cars for a while, so I'd say I have some experience. In my case, the problem was the central locking control unit. After a few visits to the garage and a €465 replacement of the control unit, everything was back to normal. Could you give us a few more details about your car? Has it already done a lot of miles, have you been to the garage recently or have you made any changes? Then I might be able to help you even better. Hope this helps you!

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. My Zoe now has 87874 km on the clock. The last time I was at the garage for a normal check-up, but everything was still fine then. Since then, I haven't made any major changes, except that I may have been driving more short distances than usual... Could that have something to do with it? But before I simply have parts replaced, I'd rather look for empirical values. Thanks for the insight into your experience, maybe it really is the control unit. I'll see what other people have to say. It's really cool to get answers so quickly here. See you then!

Hey, no problem, that's what forums are for, to share experiences, right? Regarding your question about short journeys: Yes, that could actually have something to do with it. Excessive short journeys can lead to insufficient charging of the vehicle battery, which in turn can affect the electronics in your car. Nevertheless, I wouldn't rush into replacing the control unit. It could also be the battery in your car key (as you originally suspected), or even the lock itself. A good way to find out would be to test whether the problems can be solved with a spare key, if you have one. So take it one step at a time and check the easiest option first. It would be annoying to spend a lot of money on a new control unit and then find out that only the key battery was flat. Hope this helps you! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you can solve the problem soon! See you then!

Hey, thanks for your helpful advice! I'll try your suggestion with the spare key first before I have expensive parts replaced. You're probably right and it's just the battery in the key. I'm quite relieved that it doesn't necessarily have to be the control unit. Thank you again for your time and the good tips. When I've solved the problem, I'll get back to you here. Really great here! Bye and see you next time!
