Thanks for the answer! My DS4 has now covered 188667 kilometers and was registered in 2014. The last service was just over 10,000 kilometers ago and everything was fine. I think the problem has only developed in the last few weeks. Could it be that the DPF has now given up completely? Or should I check whether there might be other problems that could be causing these symptoms? Your tip about replacing the DPF is also on my mind, but I'm not sure if that's the only solution.

Hey, thanks for the extra details. From my experience, it really seems like your DPF has given up. Almost all the symptoms point to this, especially the heavy smoking and the check engine light. With that kind of mileage it's not unusual, the DPF normally lasts between 120000 and 250000 kilometers. However, there could be other problems that are causing these symptoms. I would recommend that you have your car checked by a garage before you decide on a new DPF. They can use special software to read out the fault memory and tell you exactly what's wrong. It could also be a leaking turbocharger or a problem with the injection system - these can also cause similar symptoms. My advice: Have your car checked and only replace the DPF if it's really necessary. It's just expensive fun. In my 308 it was definitely the DPF, but I can only judge your situation based on my own experience. I hope this helps you! Good luck!

Thank you very much for your comprehensive advice! So I'm going to visit a garage next and have the car completely checked. Based on the results, I will then decide whether to have the DPF replaced or whether there might be another problem. It will cost a bit, but certainly less than replacing the DPF. Your experience and tips were really helpful, I hope I can solve the problem soon!

Hi, I'm not a car mechanic but I have some experience as I had a similar problem with my 2012 Peugeot 308 Diesel, also a PSA model. It turned out that the DPF (diesel particulate filter) was internally defective. At my garage, they replaced the DPF professionally, which cost me 1550 euros. After the DPF was replaced, my car ran perfectly again and all the symptoms you mentioned were gone. Could you perhaps give more details about your vehicle? How many kilometers has it done? When was the last time you had the DPF changed? The more information you can provide, the better I or someone else might be able to help you.
