Problems with Citroen DS3 petrol engine 2011: Jerking, high consumption and illuminated check engine light

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Poor fuel economy

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Citroen DS3 petrol engine, built in 2011. The car no longer runs smoothly, there is jerking when accelerating, no real thrust, consumption is high and the check engine light is on. I have the feeling that it could be something with the intake manifold pressure sensor. Have any of you had this problem before and can give me some advice on how it was fixed at the garage and what the experience was? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a little experience with cars, but not a pro here, okay? I had a similar problem with my Citroen C3, year 2009. Due to the error "The wiring harness of the intake manifold pressure sensor is open or shorted" in my car, I was also at a loss. I then went to my garage and they did it for me. It cost me 95 euros. Does your vehicle have an OBD scanner? It would be helpful if you could share more detailed information about the error message. This could definitely help to localize the problem more precisely.

Hello, thank you for your answer. I also have one of these things lying around, an OBD scanner I mean. I'll read out the error tomorrow morning and then post it here. Oh well, my DS3 has 106556 KM down so far and the last service was done not too long ago. Maybe that can help to narrow down the problem. Thanks again for your advice, I will definitely have the wiring harness looked at.

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Sounds good that you have an OBD scanner to hand yourself. That will certainly help you to get an exact error code. The mileage of your DS3 isn't exactly low, so wear and tear or defective parts can definitely be a problem - especially things like the intake manifold pressure sensor or the wiring harness. In any case, make sure you mention to the technicians that you want them to check this. And yes, even if it hasn't been very long since the last service, but if those particular parts weren't checked, they could still be responsible for the problems. I look forward to your report after you have read out the fault. Maybe then we can understand even better what's going on. Take care and good luck!

Hey, thanks again! I will definitely follow your advice and pass this on to the technicians. I hope it's just a minor problem and won't be too expensive. The OBD scanner will do its job tomorrow and I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the encouragement and your advice. I'll let you know when I know more. Take care and thank you!
