What you say sounds quite reasonable, I also suspected it might have something to do with the ventilation. I have a total of 37389 km on it and the last service was a few months ago. I can say about the driving behavior that it jerks and pulls worse, especially when cold. The smell of exhaust fumes is mostly when I have driven longer distances or am stuck in traffic.
