Check engine light on

Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my 2007 Ford C Max, diesel. The Check Engine light is on, the DPF is not regenerating properly and the warning light in the speedometer is also on. I think it could be due to the Ad-Blue tank being empty, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had similar problems and know how to fix them? Would be great if you could share your experiences and tips from the workshop. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, I am not a car expert, but I have had some experience with cars. I had a similar problem with my 2009 Ford Focus, it turned out that the fault was "Sporadic faulty communication between ECUs". To fix it, I had to take my car to the garage where they replaced the ECU and did some work on the electronics. Unfortunately, I had to pay around 955 euros for this. But the devil is in the detail, right? Could you give me exact information about your car model? I'd like to help and the more details, the better I can assess whether it could be the same problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. My Ford C Max is from 2007 and has around 114110 km on the clock. I had the last service a year ago. AdBlue was also topped up then and the DPF worked well until recently. But now both are acting up. Really annoying! So if anyone has any good tips, I'm open to anything. Doesn't have to be the big workshop number. I'd be really happy if there was a simpler and cheaper solution. Thank you!

Hey, that sounds really frustrating! I had similar problems with my Ford once. After I topped up with AdBlue, the warning lights were still on. In my case, it was ultimately the DPF sensor that was broken. I had to take it to the workshop, but it wasn't too bad, the repair didn't cost much and didn't take long. Maybe that will help. But no guarantee that it's exactly the same for you. And if nothing helps - then it's better to go to the workshop before anything else breaks. Keep your fingers crossed that it's only a minor issue!

Hey, thanks for the tip! I will definitely have the sensor checked. Hopefully that will also be the solution to my problem. Otherwise I'll probably have to go to the garage after all... Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't get that far. Thanks again for your help and valuable tips. Have a nice day!

Servus, The AD-Blue system should not actually be directly related to the DPF regeneration, but it can be under certain circumstances. I would advise you to first carry out a complete diagnosis on the vehicle or have one carried out. Because it is often just a sensor that is defective.
