Problems with battery and lighting in Citroen Jumpy model year 2008 - looking for experience and solutions

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Hi guys, I have a bit of a problem with my Citroen Jumpy, built in 2008, with a gasoline engine. There are a few symptoms that make me wonder: When starting the engine, the battery is low and the lights are dark or flickering. My assumption is that it may be due to low voltage in the vehicle. Have any of you had experience with this and been able to fix the problem in a workshop? What exactly was the problem and how did they solve it? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks a lot!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 Citroën Berlingo. I don't have much car experience, but I've learned that such problems are often due to a flat or faulty battery. I went to a garage and they confirmed that my battery was flat/defective. They replaced the battery for 290 euros. Has your Jumpy ever been to the garage for this problem? Without more information about your vehicle it would be difficult to share more details and offer further help.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Jumpy has only recently been serviced, with a mileage of 92460 KM. The problem hasn't been addressed or noticed yet, so there have been no repairs related to this issue. But your experience sounds logical, I think I'll have my battery checked next. The 290 euros doesn't sound nice, but if it solves the problem, it would be worth the money to me. I really appreciate your help, thanks again!

No problem, I'm happy to help! In my car, it was actually the battery. Especially if your Jumpy is a bit older and has a few kilometers on the clock, the battery often gets weaker. You can also have the alternator belt checked, in my case it sometimes delays the engine start and can be responsible for flickering lights. But you're doing the right thing, have the battery tested. The 290 euros included labor and the battery should last a while with good care. Keep us up to date and good luck!

Thanks for the additional tips! I've decided to take my Jumpy to a garage and have the battery checked, and I'll also ask about the alternator belt. The cost sounds acceptable, especially if that solves the problem. As soon as I have any news, I'll keep you guys posted. Really, thanks for all the helpful advice and support. It is very much appreciated!
