Problems with airbag and ABS warning lights and ABS system in Peugeot 106 - suspected lateral acceleration sensor defect

Airbag warning light

ABS/DSC system is not working

ABS warning light

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Peugeot 106 (diesel, year 2002). It shows the airbag warning light, ABS warning light and the ABS system is not working. I think the lateral acceleration sensor might be faulty. Have any of you ever experienced something like this? How did you solve the problem at the garage? I am very keen to hear your experiences and tips.

Hello, unfortunately I can't advise you that well. I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to cars, but I had a similar experience with my Peugeot 207 (gasoline, built in 2004). The ABS control unit was also broken. Unfortunately, I had to spend €1000 to fix the problem at my garage. They replaced the control unit and I haven't had any more problems since. Could you perhaps give a few more details about your car? That would certainly help to help you better. For example, did you notice any other symptoms before the warning lights came on? Have you had any work done on the car recently? Regards.

Hello and thank you for your feedback, I have driven 91340 kilometers with the car so far and the last service was also uncomplicated. There were actually no particular symptoms before the warning light, I was quite surprised. Only the brakes were a bit spongy, but I thought that might be normal. I recently changed the tires, but I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. Maybe someone else in the community has more experience with problems like this? Thanks in advance.

Hi again, I remember having similar symptoms on my Peugeot 207 before the ABS control unit failed. In my case it was also the warning lights and spongy brakes. Have a look to see if your ABS control unit is also faulty, just like mine. It is of course possible that the lateral acceleration sensor could also be a problem, but in my experience, it sounds more like a problem with the ABS control unit. Your tire change should normally have nothing to do with the current problems, unless the mechanic damaged something in the ABS system. But that's just a guess, I'm not an expert. I would definitely recommend having your car inspected by a professional. You shouldn't take any risks with warning lights like this. Best wishes and good luck!

Hi, thanks for the helpful information. I think I'll take your advice and have the car inspected by a professional, as this does sound like a similar problem to the one you had. It certainly gives me a direction to follow. I wouldn't have thought the tire change caused the problem, but it's always good to consider all possibilities. Thanks again for your help! I'll keep you posted when I have any news. Best regards.
