Problems with airbag and ABS light on 2020 Mercedes E Class Diesel

ABS warning light

Airbag warning light

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey guys, I have a small problem with my 2020 Mercedes E class diesel. Airbag warning light and ABS light are on and the ABS system is not working properly. I suspect it might be the lateral acceleration sensor. Have any of you ever had similar experiences and can give me a tip on how you solved the problem in the workshop? I would be pleased to hear about your experiences.

Hello, I drive a Mercedes E2 Diesel from 2018 and had a similar problem. Please don't take my advice too seriously, I'm not an expert, but I have a bit of experience. In my case, it was the ABS control unit that was defective. I had it checked and repaired in the workshop. They replaced the whole control unit and it cost me around 1000 euros. Your ABS problem could also be due to this, but without exact details of your car, I can't say anything for sure. What about your tires? Are they in good condition? And how old is the battery in your E-Class? A little more information could help.

Hey, thanks for your reply. My E-Class has now covered 111686 km and nothing unusual was found at the last service. The tires were only replaced last year and the battery is still pretty fresh. I think I'll follow your advice and have the control unit checked. A thousand euros is not cheap, but safety first. Thanks again for the tip!

No problem, you're welcome! It's always good to be safe when it comes to things like airbags, ABS and DSC. A faulty ECU sounds logical, based on your description. And yes, it may be a little pricey, but you really can't skimp on safety, especially at high speeds. I hope there's as easy a fix for you as there was for me. Let us know how it goes at the garage, maybe you can help someone in the future with similar symptoms. Have a safe journey and hopefully the problem will be fixed soon!

Hello, thank you very much for your support! Yes, you really shouldn't cut corners when it comes to safety. I will visit the garage and have the control unit checked. After the repair, I will of course keep you up to date so that I can help others in similar situations. Thanks again and have a safe journey!
