Problems with air conditioning and overheating in Seat Ibiza 2012 - experience and suggested solutions wanted

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Dear community, I have a problem with my Seat Ibiza, model year 2012, gasoline engine. The air conditioning only blows warm air and the car overheats. I think it could be the electric fan or the control unit. Have any of you had the same problem and can give me some tips? How did you get it solved in the workshop and what were your experiences? Maybe you can help me narrow down the problem. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a very similar problem with my Seat Leon, built in 2010. I only have some experience with cars, but I know exactly this problem. In my case, the cable of the electric fan was defective, which meant that the air conditioning only blew warm air and the car overheated. I was able to fix the problem at an independent garage near me. They replaced the cable and I had to pay 155 euros. Everything went really well and there have been no more problems since then. To give you more detailed information, it would be helpful if you could provide a few more details about your car. For example, the exact model or how long you've had the problem. I hope I have been able to help you!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! So, the stupid thing has 98123 km on it now and I actually just had it serviced the other day. Everything worked great until this heat started and then this stupid warm air came out of the air conditioning. So you think it could be the electric fan cable? Then I should probably visit a garage. Fortunately, 155 euros would still be reasonable, not nice of course, but the main thing is that the car runs properly again. Thanks for your tip!

Hello again! I'm glad I could help you a little further. Yes, from your description it sounds very much like the electric fan cable could be the problem. And the symptoms definitely point to a problem with the cooling system, especially in this heat. In my opinion, your Ibiza should be looked at by a professional. The 155 euros I had to pay for the repair included the cost of the spare part and labor. However, the costs can vary depending on the workshop and region, so I would recommend getting a few quotes before deciding on a workshop. In any case, it's important that you don't put off the problem for too long before it causes major damage. I hope this helps you and you get the problem under control quickly. Good luck with it!

Hello again! That's really good advice - an expert should definitely take a look at it. The costs were still reasonably bearable for you. I will definitely get several quotes and won't put it off much longer. You're right, before any major damage occurs... Thanks again for your advice and the good explanation. I'll let you know how it goes!
