ABS warning light

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2014 Peugeot Expert Diesel. The ABS warning light is on, the brake pedal is not responding, the ABS system is not working properly, the brake lights are out and a warning light is illuminated in the speedometer. I suspect that the brake pedal position sensor may be faulty. Has anyone here had similar problems and can tell me how this was fixed at the garage and how much it cost? Thank you!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Peugeot Partner Diesel, built in 2012. I would say I have rather limited experience with cars, but I also had to have it solved in the workshop at the time. In my case, the control unit was defective and had triggered a malfunction in the brake system. The diagnosis and repair cost me a total of 1000 euros, which came as quite a surprise to me. I recommend that you get your car checked as soon as possible. Can you provide more details about your vehicle? For example, how many kilometers have you driven and when was the last time you had the brakes serviced? Maybe I can help you better with more details.

Hello, thank you for your answer! My Peugeot already has 191618 kilometers on the clock and the last major inspection was at 180000 kilometers. The brakes were also changed there. I will definitely take it to the garage as soon as possible. I'm just dreading the repair costs. But thanks for the helpful tip about the control unit, I'll take it up with you.

No problem, I'm glad if I can help. With so many kilometers, it's not unusual to have to change a part or two. You didn't wait that long with the brakes, so that's good. The thing about the control unit is that if it breaks, it messes up the sensors, including the brake pedal position sensor. So it could well be that your suspicions are correct. I totally understand about the repair costs, it's always annoying when unexpected costs arise. But I would definitely recommend having it checked as soon as possible. In my case, it just delayed it even more and the repair costs got higher and higher. Good luck and hopefully it's nothing too bad. Let us know how it goes.
