Unresponsive brake pedal

Hi guys! I have a strange problem with my 2012 Mercedes S Class, gasoline engine. The ABS warning light is on, the brake pedal is not responding, the ABS system is not running and the brake light is not working. I think the brake pedal position sensor might be broken. Does anyone have experience with a problem like this and can give me some tips? How did you solve this in your workshop? I look forward to hearing your stories. Thank you very much!

Hi, I have experienced something similar with my 20 Mercedes E Class. I only have a little experience with cars, so I'm not a professional. My ECU was broken which caused pretty much the same problem. I took it to my garage for an inspection and they replaced the ECU. It cost me 1000 euros, quite expensive, but it solved the problem. Can you give more information about your car? How many kilometers does it have on it? When was the last inspection? Such details could help to make a more accurate diagnosis. Good luck in solving your problem, hope this helps a little!

Hi, thanks for your reply and the tips. So my mileage is 196215km. The last inspection was on time and there were no major problems. Maybe I should actually have the control unit checked, in case that's the problem. A high price, but what won't you do for your beloved car, right? Thanks again!

Hello again! Well, with this mileage and regular maintenance, I'd say the car is definitely in good hands. Yes, indeed, a broken control unit could be the culprit. But have you also checked whether there is enough brake fluid left? Once you have located the fault, the cost might not be so high. Although 1000 euros is not a lot, safety should always be the top priority. Good luck with this and hopefully your Mercedes will soon be running like clockwork again!

Hello again! Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I did check the brake fluid, it seems to be enough. But you're right, safety first and I'll probably accept the cost. I also hope that everything runs smoothly again soon. Thanks again for the advice and helpful support!
