Problems with ABS system and warning lights on Peugeot 307 Diesel - possible defect in wheel speed sensor

Fault stored

ABS/DSC system is not working

ABS warning light

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hello folks! My 2002 Peugeot 307 Diesel has strange symptoms - ABS warning light, ABS system not working, warning light in speedometer, fault stored. I suspect the wheel speed sensor could be the problem. Does anyone have any experience with such faults and can give me tips on how to fix it? How did it go in the workshop? I am grateful for any help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2000 Peugeot 305 diesel. I wouldn't call myself a car professional, but I've repaired a few cars in my time. When the ABS light came on in my car, I wasn't sure what was wrong either. So I drove to the garage. To cut a long story short, it turned out that the ABS control unit was faulty. The repair cost me 1000 euros. To help you better, I would need some more information. Can you tell me if any other indicator lights come on or if there are any other symptoms? How does the car behave when driving? The more details, the better I may be able to help you.

Hey, thanks for the tip! So there are no other indicator lights on. The handling is pretty normal too, except the ABS system isn't working. I have about 97932 kilometers on it and my last service was about 6 months ago. I hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the info. It could of course be that the ABS control unit is faulty, as in my car. But since there are no other symptoms and your driving behavior is pretty normal, it could certainly be the ABS sensor. I once had a similar driving behavior with my Peugeot, and it also turned out that the sensor was dirty. Cleaning it solved the problem. You can sometimes even do this yourself if you are a bit handy. Of course, it is also possible that a cable has a loose connection or something similar. But to be really sure, I would recommend going to a workshop. They can read out the system professionally and localize the fault. It may cost a little, but then you'll know for sure what's wrong. In addition, it is always a good idea to have a specialist look at safety-relevant issues such as ABS. Sorry I can't help you any better!

Hey, I really appreciate your help and advice! It seems to make sense to have a professional from the garage check it out to make sure nothing major is going on. I'll check to see if it's the ABS sensor or if there are any cables involved. Then it's probably off to the next service, where the fault memory will also be read out. Thanks again!
