Hey Person2, thanks for your reply. My Vito now has 67395 km on the clock. The last inspection was a few weeks ago. But there is nothing in the service booklet about changing the brake fluid or working on the brake system. I haven't checked the brake fluid myself yet, but will do so tomorrow. Hopefully that will help. Thanks again!

Hey person1, no problem, we're all here to help each other, aren't we? That's interesting, given the mileage of your Vito, the brake fluid should actually have been changed at least once. In principle, the brake fluid should be changed every two years or so. So it could actually be that your brake fluid is old and damp, which can reduce braking performance and make the brakes spongy. The ABS light could also indicate that the brake sensors are messed up because the fluid is no longer optimal. If you're not sure how to check the brake fluid level, it's better to have a professional do it. It would be a good idea to take your Vito to the garage and have the brake fluid changed. At least you could start there. Hopefully this will help you and your problem will soon be solved. Stay safe on the road!

Hello Person2, thank you for taking such an interest in my problem. A specialist should really have a look at it. I'm going straight to the garage tomorrow to have the brake fluid level checked and probably changed straight away - hopefully they'll find out more about the problem with the warning light. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out of it. Thanks again for your help and advice. Take good care of yourself and see you here in the forum again soon. Take care!

Hi, it could be a pressure sensor issue on the brake booster. First, I would check the ABS sensors and brake fluid level. In the garage, they might run a diagnostic scan to pinpoint the exact problem. My experience was positive; they fixed it by replacing a faulty sensor. Best of luck!

Hi person1, I can understand your concern, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Mercedes Sprinter. I have a few years experience of working on cars, but I'm not a professional. In my case, the brake system was bled incorrectly. I had to go to the garage and pay €90 to get it fixed. It wasn't easy to find the problem, but the people at the garage were very helpful. To help you more accurately, could you please give me some additional information about your car? What mileage does your car have? When did you last change or check the brake fluid? Has the brake system been repaired recently? I hope this helps you!
