Problems starting a Peugeot Expert Diesel 2009: connection with auxiliary heating?

Car won't start

Hi folks, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2009 Peugeot Expert Diesel. It just won't start. I suspect that it might have something to do with the malfunction of the parking heater. Does anyone here have any experience with such problems and can give me tips on how to proceed? It would be really great if you could tell me how you have solved such problems in your workshop.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2007 Peugeot Boxer Diesel. I have little experience with cars, but I am able to carry out simple maintenance work. When my car wouldn't start, I had to take it to the garage. It turned out that the glow plug was defective. The mechanic replaced the glow plug and it cost about 560 euros in total. I was a bit shocked by the amount, but at least the car is running again. To be able to help you better, it would be good to know how many kilometers your car has done and whether you have noticed any other symptoms apart from the car not starting. Have you already read out the fault memory? That could provide some clues. I hope I've been able to help you a little.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! My Expert now has 160645 KM on the clock. Last service was a few months ago. There are no other symptoms than the engine not starting, only the parking heater. I haven't read out the fault memory yet, but it sounds like a good tip. I'm not really that much of a mechanic, but I'll give it a go. Thank you!

Hey, you're welcome! Given the number of kilometers, it is of course likely that something will simply break. If the parking heater is going crazy, that could of course also have an influence, but I'm not sure. Reading the fault memory helped me a lot back then. There are inexpensive reading devices or apps that you can use if you're not completely clumsy. I'm sorry that I can't help you that much with the parking heater, but unfortunately I don't have that much experience. Given the mileage and age of your car, perhaps it would be an idea to have a thorough inspection carried out at a garage? They could then also take a close look at the parking heater. Yes, it costs a bit, but if it helps, it's worth it. Good luck, hope your Expert starts up again soon!

Hello, thank you very much for the other tips! I think I really have no choice but to have the car checked properly. Hopefully the garage will find out whether it's the parking heater or the glow plug. Your experience is in line with what I've read on the internet. Good that you survived it! So I have no choice but to stay positive and hope for the best. Thank you again and have a nice weekend!
