Engine hard to start

Hey guys, have you ever had problems with a 2012 Ford C Max, gasoline, that is hard to start? I also notice a weak battery when starting and flickering lights. Could it be a fault in the engine control unit? How did you get the problem solved at your garage and what were your experiences? I would appreciate any tips. Thanks in advance!

Hello, well, I have a bit of experience with cars - I'm more of an amateur in that respect. I had a similar problem with my 2014 Ford Focus, but in my case it wasn't the battery or the engine control unit. It was the glow plugs that were defective or worn out. I also went to the garage and they fixed it for 560 euros. Of course, your situation may be slightly different. To help you more precisely, could you perhaps give me a few more details about your car? For example, the exact engine, mileage, etc.? That would be great. Hope that helps you a little.

Hey, thanks for your answer. My C Max has now covered 52204 km. Nothing abnormal was found during the last inspection. Can you perhaps tell me how I can check whether the glow plugs are OK?

Hi there, sure, I'd love to! Well, there are no glow plugs in a petrol engine like yours, only in diesel vehicles. The severe starting difficulties in your C-Max could be related to the battery, especially if the lights flicker. This indicates a low charge level in the battery. If I were you, I would have the battery checked first. If the battery is OK, the starter motor or the ignition switch could also be causing problems. Fault analysis is not that easy, so it would be better if you took your car to a garage. They will be able to check it more closely and find the exact fault. Hope this helps! Please let us know what it was in the end. I would find that very interesting.

Hey, those are really helpful tips. I also think the battery could be the most likely culprit. I will definitely have it checked. If the problem persists, I'll consider the starter motor and ignition switch thing. I'll let you know when I've found the exact fault. Thanks again for your help! Your experience and advice was really valuable. Bye!
