Problem with the ventilation in Mercedes A Class 2006 - suspected rear ventilation flap defect

Blower does not work properly

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2006 Mercedes A Class. The ventilation is completely out of order, the fan no longer works properly. I suspect that it might be the rear ventilation flap. Have any of you ever had the same problem and can give me a few tips on how to tackle it? Above all, I would like to know how this was solved at your garage. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Mercedes B Class. I'm not a car expert, but I do have some experience with cars. In my case it was the air conditioning control unit that was faulty. I had it repaired in a garage and it cost me 355 euros. Has the air conditioning control unit in your car ever been checked? Perhaps it would be good if you could tell us a bit more about your car, maybe then I can help you better.

Hello, thanks for the answer! My car has a mileage of 134911 km and the last service was very recent. I'm not sure if the air conditioning control unit was checked during the last service. I'll certainly call the garage and ask. But your answer will help me. Thank you very much!

I'm glad I could help you! In your case, if the rear ventilation flap is causing the problem, it could be that it is stuck or blocked. Have you noticed if the air coming out of the rear vent is different from the other vents? It could be a good sign that the rear vent is actually the problem. In my B Class it was a completely different story, but with cars it's never that simple, sometimes it's the little things that cause the biggest problems. So don't panic, just give the garage a call and get it checked out. And let us know how it goes! Good luck.

Hey, those are great tips, thank you! The air from the rear ventilation really does feel a bit different, so maybe the problem really is there. I'll call the garage tomorrow and let you know what I find out. I wouldn't have thought that it could also be the air conditioning control unit. You're right, with cars it's sometimes the little things that cause the biggest problems. Thanks again for your help!

Webasto auxiliary heater does not work

First, check the fuse for the Webasto auxiliary heater, it might be blown. If the fuse is fine, the issue could be with the heater's fuel pump or the heater unit itself. In any case, if you're not comfortable with diagnosing the issue yourself, it's best to have a professional mechanic look at it.
