Problem with the lighting and warning light on Mini Cabrio Diesel 2017 - experience and solutions wanted

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Error in the lighting

Hi everyone, I have a strange problem with my 2017 Mini Cabrio Diesel. Somehow there is a fault in the lighting and the warning light in the speedometer comes on. I suspect the glow agent may be faulty. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and how did you get it solved in the workshop? I would be delighted to hear about your experiences!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2015 Mini Clubman Diesel. I'm not a master mechanic, but I do have a bit of experience. At my garage, they said the cable connection to the lamp was faulty, not the glow agent. After a repair for 180 euros, everything ran smoothly again. Have you ever checked the condition of your cables? It also depends directly on the model and exact year of manufacture, can you provide more information about your car?

Hey, thanks for the tip about the cable connection! I already have 41005 km on the clock and the last service was recently, so I don't think it's the condition of the cables. But I will definitely have a look. It seems to be a more common thing with the Minis... Thanks again for the help!

Hey, no problem! Yes, these lighting problems do seem to occur more frequently with minis. But it's good that you're already taking a look. Maybe the service department has overlooked something. With my old Mini, there were always minor problems too. In the end, however, it was always just a minor issue that could be fixed quite quickly in the workshop, such as the issue with the defective cables. If it really is the glow agent, then you can replace it yourself quite easily and cheaply. Good luck with that!

You're right, maybe the service department has overlooked something. I will try to replace the glow agent myself first before I consider an expensive repair in the workshop. Your experience has really helped me, thank you very much! It's really cool that there are such helpful people like you. Stay healthy and have a good trip with your Mini!

To upgrade your halogen high beams to LED on a Mini Cooper R56, you'll need LED bulbs that are compatible with your car's socket type, typically H7 for high beams. Additionally, to avoid error messages or flickering, you should use CANbus-compatible LED bulbs or install a separate CANbus decoder. Make sure the LED bulbs are designed for automotive use to ensure proper beam pattern and brightness. After installation, check the alignment to avoid dazzling other drivers. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
